Kalesa Fiestahan (Binmaley Rd Pangasinan)

7:48:00 PM
A kalesa (also known as caritela or karitela) is a horse-drawn calash used in the Philippines. It was one mode of transportation introduced to the islands in the 18th century by Spanish colonizers, and was initially reserved for only nobles and high-ranking civic officials.

We were in Lingayen Pangasinan over the weekend and was searching for a nice place to eat. Using Waze as our guide to search for places near the area, it pointed us out to Kalesa.

We were fortunate because Kalesa opened the day before (July 28, 2017). Restaurant-style is buffet. They offered mostly Filipino dishes with a mix of some sushi in the appetizer area.

Upon getting in, ushers will direct you to the counter where you have to pay Php295 per person. Then you may get to choose a table then buffet away!

The entrance. Opening day flowers were still at the entrance when we were there
Imagine Cabalen but better. (Because it was new?) Anyway, from those that I remembered they were offering the following:
  • Patatim
  • Kare-Kare
  • Menudo
  • Lechon Paksiw
  • Lechon Kawali
  • Meatballs
  • Beef Steak
  • Afritada
  • Laing
  • Onion Rings
  • Two or three shell dishes (I think)
  • Choice of Yang Chao or  Plain Rice
  • Ampalaya cor carne
  • Salmon sinigang
  • Bulalo soup
  • Lumpiang sariwa
  • Sashimi
  • Vegetable tempura
  • Vegetable Salad
  • Macaroni salad
  • Camote fries
  • Turon
  • Fruits
  • Halo-halo
They also offer a pitcher of iced tea or blue lemonade for Php 100.
According to my husband and my mom, the following were winners:
  • Kare-kare 👍
  • Camote fries👍
  • Laing👍
  • Patatim👍
  • Sinigang na salmon 👍
Winners meaning you can't resist but go back for seconds (or third) helpings.

We  arrived there at around 5:30 pm and  believe me when I tell you that the place quickly filled up. There were some dishes that people seemed to be scrambling to get a lot! Lol! Agawan sa iba that I find myself almost rushing as well. hahahah 😂

All in all, I think the place was worth going back to. That is, when we go back to this province. 😅
