Where Elle Is — And How She Got Here
If you’ve been here before, the space might feel a little different. If you’re new, welcome. Either way, I’m glad you found your way here.
Elleswhere started as a place to document life—food, trips, random thoughts, whatever was happening. It was fun, it was scattered, and it was very much a reflection of who I was then: someone figuring things out and writing about it all.
A lot has changed since then.
I’m a Filipina mom living in Canada—a life I once only imagined, built from four boxes, a few suitcases, and a whole lot of hope. I’ve learned what it means to start over in a place that wasn’t mine at first. To raise a child between two cultures and constantly translate not just languages, but expectations, guilt, and love. To find belonging somewhere new without losing the self you brought with you. To sit through the hard seasons—the loneliness, the paperwork, the “why did I do this?” nights—and still find something small enough to hold onto: a good cup of coffee, a child’s laugh, a call from home.
Those experiences changed the way I see things. And they changed what I want this space to be.
Elleswhere is now where I slow down. Where I sift through the ordinary and find what’s actually worth saying. It’s about motherhood that doesn’t look like Instagram, immigrant life that’s equal parts resilience and exhaustion, and the places we go—the cities, the kitchens, the parks—that end up revealing more about us than we expected. It’s honest. It’s personal. And I hope, in some way, it feels familiar—even if we’ve never met.
Because I think a lot of us are somewhere between where we started and where we’re going, trying to make sense of it all.
This is where I do that. Out loud. In writing.
Come explore with me.
